Intelligence is an important structure that is used to understand how individuals differ from one to another, the ability to understand, to learn, and to know.

According to Alfred Binet: - Intelligence is the ability to make good decisions, understand well and reason.

According to Wechsler: - Intelligence is the universal and holistic ability of an individual to think logically, act purposefully, and deal effectively with their surroundings.

Critical Perspectives of Building Intelligence

The intelligence possessed by each individual varies from person to person, and intelligence itself is a large term.  This includes abilities, interests, personality and values. There are various evaluation methods to take a look at the critical perspective of building intelligence.

There are several methods used to measure perspective of intelligence.

1. Psychological Test: - It is an objective and standardized measure of mental and behavioral traits of an individual. 

2. Interview: - It involves getting information from one person on one to one basis. 

3. Case Study: - It is an in-depth study of a person with reference to his psychological characteristics, psychological history and physical environment.

4. Observation: - Involves employing systematic, organized and objective procedures to record naturally occurring behavioral events in real time. 

5. Self-Report:- A method in which a person provides factual information about himself or opinions, beliefs etc. that he holds.

There are various approaches to find out the critical perspective of the construction of intelligence

1. The Psychometric Approach: - considers intelligence to be a set of abilities.  It expresses the performance teams of individuals of a single index of cognitive abilities.

2. Information Approach: - Describe the processes people use intellectual reasoning and problem solving. The main focus of this approach is on how a person with intelligence functions.  It emphasizes to study the cognitive functions underlying intelligent behavior.

IQ Tests in India

1. S.M Mohsin made a pioneering effort in the 1930s in the creation of an intellectual test in Hindi.

2. C.H Rice attempted to standardize Binet’s test in Urdu and Punjabi.

3. Mahalanobois also attempted to standardize Binet's test in Bengali by Indian research to develop Indian criteria for some western tests including RPM, WAIS and Kohs block design.
